A dog was found wandering around Lehigh Acres in Florida last week with its snout taped shut with red electrical tape.

Chance, the Cur, was malnourished, dehydrated and suffocating as a result of one of the most heinous examples of animal cruelty.

Fortunately, as his name implies, Chance was given a new lease on life after being found by Sheriff Carmine Marceno and adopted by the Florida Sheriff's office.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office posted an encouraging update to all who were concerned about the poor animal's condition, who also sustained wounds to his leg and chest.

He is recovering nicely and the positive update read, in part:

"Chance is progressing wonderfully! He has gained weight, his wounds are healing nicely and he is beginning to trust select people."
"Heartfelt thanks to the remarkable staff at LCDAS for the love and care that they are giving to Chance!"

The new addition to the staff at the Sheriff's Office is Deputy Chance.

He is being assigned to the Community Relations Bureau as the "Spokes-Dog" for the department's Pets on Patrol program and even has his own office and email account: eputychance@sheriffleefl.org, according to Cox Media Group National Content Desk.

The original owner of the dog has not been found and the Sheriff's Office is offering a Crime Stoppers reward of up to $3,000.

Additionally, another group announced a $5,000 reward for anyone offering information on the abusive owner, bringing the reward amount to $8,000.

A statement describing Chance's distressed state upon being discovered on February 26 said:

"This dog was on the brink of a terrifying, lonely death."

Although Deputy Chance is in a new home, animal lovers were infuriated over his previous abuse.

The Sheriff's Office Facebook post was flooded with compliments for rescuing Chance.

I agree with Chris Pratt.

May the new member of the paw patrol understand that most humans are capable of showing all the love and affection he deserves and may he continue to experience nothing but endless adoration.

We love you, Chance!

Conspiracy Theories That Seem Believable The More You Look Into Them

We tend to think of conspiracy theories as a phenomenon of the digital age. But the internet and mobile devices only allow them to be created and spread faster.

Conspiracy theories have likely been around as long as human civilization has. They are, at their root, just another form of rumors and gossip.
