After having pets for a while, human companions might think they have their furry friends all figured out.
But pets can be full of surprises and, just like children, often need safeguards at home.
TikToker Mary of @mcgat1 recently found that out the hard way when she came home from her holiday and discovered an empty bottle of Bailey's on her carpet with the lid chewed off. The bottle had been about half full when she left.
Then she found a bottle of vodka that had maybe a quarter of the bottle left, and it had been nearly full.
Mary began a TikTok video with a shot of her guilty-looking dog, Jack, sitting off to the side while she observed the damage.
Once she filmed the bottles, she turned to Jack:
"Jack, try to walk, come on."
Trying to play it cool, Jack rose to his feet and walked a few slow steps, but then his legs betrayed him, and he slid onto the floor. The rest of the trek through the kitchen was full of trips, cross-legged steps, and general hilarity.
Chuckling behind the camera, Mary confided:
"It's not funny, but my dog is drunk and I don't know what to do about it."

Shortly after the initial video, the dog owner called an animal poisoning hotline, who advised her to take the dog to the vet, since no one could say how much Jack actually drank.
The TikToker left Jack at the vet overnight, and when she called to check in, they reassured her:
"He's not even hung over!"

In the second video, the TikToker reassured all of Jack's fans that he was in perfect health and that they'd even watched out for pancreatitis, which is a possibility when a dog consumes alcohol. Jack was completely in the clear and appeared comfortable and happy at the end of the video.
Some fellow TikTokers were amused, and grateful that Jack was okay.

We're happy Mary followed all the steps necessary to make sure her drunken fur-baby would be okay.
And may this serve as a reminder to keep the liquor locked up and safe from kids—and pets!
