The merger between Disney and Fox has been on the minds of many a movie fan since it was first announced.

Would it affect movies that were currently in production? What would Disney ultimately do with the new properties they acquired (Deadpool and X-Men, especially)?

Many of these questions were answered this week during Disney and Fox's presentations at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

Disney showed clips from upcoming films such as The Lion King, Aladdin, Toy Story 4, and the eagerly anticipated Avengers: Endgame.

A new "Special Look" Endgame trailer was uploaded to the Marvel Studios YouTube channel this week, if you're looking for something to get you through until the film's April 26 release date:

In addition to showing footage, Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn talked about the direction the company would take moving forward.

"Disney and Fox combined. I'm still getting my mind around all this and internalizing it."
"We are truly excited because we believe that together we will be more than the sum of our parts."

Horn also talked about the future of Deadpool, while Ryan Reynolds' school bus tweet showed on the screen behind him:

"You'll be seeing more of Deadpool in the years ahead."

Fans were excited to hear it!

It was confirmed that Dark Phoenix will be the "final chapter" of the X-Men films. Fox vice-chair Emma Watts commented on it during her presentation, calling it a:

"dramatic finale worthy of its predecessors Logan and Days of Future Past."

Meanwhile, superhero horror film The New Mutants has been confirmed for an upcoming 2019 theatrical release. Not much has been heard about the film since the merger was announced, so fans have been speculating about what would happen with it.

The trailer, seen below, was released back in October of 2017:

Even Maisie Williams, who plays Wolfsbane in the film, wasn't confident that it would ever be released. When asked about the film during an interview, she told Rolling Stone:

"Who knows when the fuck that's gonna come out? ... Hopefully this interview will make everyone hurry up a little bit!"

After all that time with no news, fans were very happy to get confirmation that their wait would soon be over.

It looks like 2019 will be an exciting year for fans of Disney and Fox properties. The possibilities for beloved franchises (especially for potential crossovers) going forward are endless!

Vance Cites ‘Traffic Violations’ To Help Justify Sending Migrant Dad To El Salvador Prison

Vice President J.D. Vance was criticized after he doubled down on his insistence that a Maryland father who was accidentally deported to an El Salvadorian prison due to an "administrative error" was a criminal, justifying the move—much to the anger of social media users—because the man had "traffic violations" that warranted his removal.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who arrived in the U.S. in 2012, was labeled a threat in 2019 due to an alleged connection to the MS-13 gang. He spent months in detention before an immigration judge found he had a credible fear of persecution—not from MS-13, but from a rival group, Barrio 18, which he said had been extorting his family.
