Actor Demi Moore was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as the central character in The Substance.
Moore, who was last nominated in 1997 for her role in If These Walls Could Talk, had not received a nomination for that particular award in the intervening 35 years.
The Substance is a psychological horror movie that follows the downward spiral of an aerobics instructor in her 50s who is offered a "substance" to enhance her into a younger version of herself.
Variety often asks actors upon receiving nominations how they are feeling, and Moore was no exception.
The actor, after expressing gratitude and calling her mother, had a message for her fans about the meaning of the film, and of her own long career.
"I hope that I can be part of setting down the stones on this pathway that creates a change for all women. Not just women, but for all of us as human beings, to step back and find that recognition within ourselves of value and to know that we all matter, just as we are, at whatever stage we’re at."
People were feeling happy and vindicated in their support of Moore.
Some maintained an optimism about the multi-decade gap between nominations for Moore.
Her role in the film even got people back in theater seats.
Folks were also eyeing possible Oscars eligibility.
The Substance is available through many streaming services.
