The EGOT winner opened up to Entertainment Tonight about being called "one of the greats" by Chalamet after his SAG Award win for A Complete Unknown.

It's always nice when one talented person in a field can recognize another.

This was the case when actor Timothée Chalamet, accepting his SAG award earlier this year, called fellow actor Viola Davis as "one of the greats" in his acceptance speech.

Viola Davis is a powerhouse and beloved actor at the height of her talent with an entire EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) under her belt.

Chalamet, who won SAG actor of the year for his role as Bob Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown, also has now become the youngest actor to win that award.

In his acceptance speech, Chalamet took a moment for honesty as he was rewarded for his hard work, over five years from casting to premiere, on A Complete Unknown.

He was frank about his ambitions, and talked about "the greats" that he hopes to emulate in his career.

“I know we’re in a subjective business, but the truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness. I know people don’t usually talk like that, but I want to be one of the greats...I’m inspired by the greats."
"I’m inspired by the greats here tonight. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day-Lewis, Marlon Brando, and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps, and I want to be up there. So I’m deeply grateful."

Davis was actually alerted to the shout out in his speech by her own daughter, who the actor readily admits is enamored with Chalamet.

Davis said that she was honored by the speech and understood what he was going for.

"It was a speech about excellence. It wasn't about celebrity, it wasn't about ego. I completely understood it, and it was beautiful."

People loved how Chalamet recognized her acting talent and career.

Commenters were glad to see Chalamet handing out accolades while Davis is still alive and in the height of her career.

Folks loved how much Davis appeared to understand Chalamet's ambitions in acting.

It was clear from his speech that he knows his career path well.

People now just wanted them to star in something together. Put greats with greats.

Davis is in possession of 5 SAG awards herself, and will appear next in G20, out soon in theaters.
