Cringey Recordings Of George Santos Singing Karaoke Have Resurfaced—And Our Ears Are Bleeding

The GOP Rep. uploaded recordings of his karoake renditions of songs like 'Let It Go' and 'Hallelujah' to the karaoke app Smule eight years ago.

Embattled Republican Congressman George Santos—exposed for fabricating his ancestry, education, job history and a slew of other autobiographical information—continues to get ruthlessly mocked on the internet.

But if there was one thing about him that can be verified with absolute certainty, it was his passion for karaoke.

Thanks to a Broadway fan with a TikTok page who uncovered clips of Santos butchering popular tunes, the internet found more of a reason to continue ridiculing the disgraced Representative for New York's 3rd congressional district for his indiscretions–including assaulting the public with his lack of vocal finesse.

The TikToker who made the discovery about Santos' singing history was a user named Broadway Bob, who has been using Smule.

Smule is a karaoke app in which users record themselves singing karaoke and dueting with other fellow users.

Broadway Bob recently found an individual going by the handle @georgedevolder, who is believed to be Santos, had a still-active account on the app.

TikToker @BroadwayBob said Santos was last active on the app eight years ago and he clarified he never dueted with him.

The TikToker then played select samples of Santo's crooning–which is not exactly something you'd want to hear playing in the background during dinner.

It’s giving Miranda Sings. #smule #disney #georgesantos #greenscreen #greenscreenvideo

Broadway Bob captioned the clip with, "It’s giving Miranda Sings," referencing the off-pitch singer character played by internet personality, Collen Ballinger–who was an actual musical theater singer.

Santos, however, not so much.

The songs Santos "sang" on the app included Disney classics like "A Whole New World" from Aladdin, "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid and "Hakuna Matata" from The Lion King.

And while no amateurs should be discouraged from singing–whether at a bar or on a social media platform–Santos could benefit from taking voice lessons for the sake of his audience.

There were more misses than there were hits from his Smule playlist.

Another clip Broadway Bob shared was of Santos covering "Cups" originally sung by Anna Kendrick from the movie Pitch Perfect.

Santos' version was far from perfect.

"Lots of energy, guys. Let's have fun. Fun, fun, fun, fun, funnnnn!" said Santos before taking a crack at the song.

The internet didn't hold back on their judgments.

Santos' rendition of Rufus Wainwright's cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" also resurfaced, demonstrating his vocals showing no signs of any improvement.

And his performance of "Let It Go" from Frozen prompted an icy reception.

Santos was under investigation by the House Committee on Ethics and the Justice Department after numerous publications called him out on many of his false claims, including one about receiving a degree from Baruch College in New York City in 2010 only to later admit he never graduated from any college.

With so many blatant lies about his ancestry, charity work and his employment history, he even lost track of his fabrications on Twitter after posting about his mother's death on 9/11/2001 and on December 23, 2016.

As of January 2023, Santos was being investigated for possible campaign finance violations after he was accused of using donated funds for personal expenses.

On January 31, 2023, Santos recused himself from committee assignments after being assigned to the House Small Business Committee and the Science, Space, and Technology Committee earlier this month.

GOP Rep. Ousted From Chairmanship By Trump Calls Out Colleagues For Russian Propaganda In Resurfaced Clip

Speaking to anchor Jake Tapper on CNN last April, Ohio Republican Mike Turner said that Russian propaganda had "infected" the GOP in a clip that has resurfaced after President-elect Donald Trump had him ousted as House Intelligence Committee chair.

At the time, Turner made it clear that his fellow Republicans were parroting Russian propaganda about the war in Ukraine and its relationship with NATO members. That claim came after House Foreign Affairs Committee chair Michael McCaul, who said he thinks "Russian propaganda has made its way into the United States, unfortunately, and it’s infected a good chunk of my party’s base."
