Christian children's author Matthew Paul Turner recently came out of the closet in an Instagram post where he also announced that he and his wife, fellow author Jessica Turner, are divorcing.

Matthew Paul Turner shared his truth in a heartfelt post, accompanied by a photo of himself and Jessica.

"After much thought, prayer, and counselling, Jessica and I have made the decision to end our marriage."

"While we're best friends and thoroughly love doing life, parenting, and pursuing our dreams together, ending our marriage is necessary because I am gay."

Jessica Turner said, in her own post on Facebook, that the two had come to the conclusion that divorce was the best option, but will still be focusing on their family.

"While this doesn't change how much we love him, it does change our relationship. We are moving forward with ending our marriage, while remaining deeply committed to our family and each other.

Many of Matthew Paul Turner's followers on Twitter offered him positive thoughts, prayers, and wished him well after his coming out.

Several people shared stories of dealing with the same struggles with reconciling their and their families' aith and sexuality.

Matthew Paul Turner and his family have decided to live their own personal truths, while keeping their family in mind.
