Trump's already talked about meeting with his "good friend" Vladimir Putin, telling Turning Point USA's AmericaFest:

Meanwhile, he attacked Canada, Mexico, Panama, and Greenland with threats of invasion or annexation in speeches and through social media posts.
Regarding Panama, on Saturday Trump posted:
"The United States has a vested interest in the secure, efficient, and reliable operation of the Panama Canal, and that was always understood. We would and will NEVER let it fall into the wrong hands!"
"It was not given for the benefit of others, but merely as a token of cooperation with us and Panama. If the principles, both moral and legal, of this magnanimous gesture of giving are not followed, then we will demand that the Panama Canal be returned to us, in full, and without question."
"To the Officials of Panama, please be guided accordingly!"

Trump also told the AmericaFest crowd in Arizona:
"We’re being ripped off at the Panama Canal like we’re being ripped off everywhere else.
"[The United States] foolishly gave it away."
Trump stated:

He also falsely claimed China was controlling the canal. Unwilling to be bullied by Trump or to allow him to spout revisionist history and lies unchallenged, Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino responded to the threat with a video message posted to X.

The Panama Canal—a 51-mile (82km) artificial waterway connecting the Atlantic to the Pacific—was begun by colonizing forces at the end of the 19th century, cutting through the foreign occupied Panama Isthmus which was controlled by Colombia at the time. France started work on the canal in 1881, then stopped in 1889 due to engineering problems, a high worker mortality rate, and funding issues.
A canal saved ships a perilous journey around the southern tip of South America, making it especially important to industries shipping goods from the Americas to global markets.
So the United States began their work on the project in 1904—after supporting Panama's independence from Colombia—with the canal opening in 1914. The United States continued their occupation of Panama to control the canal and surrounding Panama Canal Zone until the 1977 Torrijos–Carter Treaties provided for return of the land to the people of Panama.
After a period of joint American–Panamanian control, Panama reclaimed their unceded territory in 1999. The canal is now managed and operated through the Panamanian government-owned Panama Canal Authority.

The ratified 1977 United States-Panamanian treaty establishing the canal’s permanent neutrality for transit by all nations remains in effect.
As President Mulino stated:
"Panama respects other nations and demands respect."
"The canal will remain in Panamanian hands as an inalienable patrimony of our nation."
Although geographically part of the North American continent, Greenland has maintained strong political and cultural ties to Europe—specifically to Norway and Denmark, its historical colonial powers—for over a millennium.
The United States has long recognized Greenland's strategic importance. In 1946, the U.S. even proposed purchasing Greenland from Denmark, offering $100 million in gold as part of the deal. Of course, that never panned out and the U.S. has no claim to Greenland in any way, shape, or form—regardless of what Trump might think.
Yet Trump nonetheless took to his social media platform to make remarks regarding the "ownership and control" of the island while announcing Ken Howery, co-founder of PayPal and Trump’s former ambassador to Sweden, as his choice for ambassador to Denmark:
"I am pleased to announce Ken Howery as my choice for United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark. Ken is a World renowned entrepreneur, investor, and public servant, who served our Nation brilliantly during my First Term as U.S. Ambassador to Sweden, where he led efforts to increase Defense, Security, and Economic Cooperation between our countries."
"As a Co-Founder of PayPal and venture capital fund, Founders Fund, Ken turned American Innovation and Tech leadership into Global success stories, and that experience will be invaluable in representing us abroad."

Not long afterward, Greenland Prime Minister Mute Egede said the following in a written comment that rebuked Trump's suggestion:
"Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom."
Trump was harshly criticized.
Trump didn't stop at Greenland during his speech—he also claimed the U.S. should get involved in Panama's affairs as well.
Trump said that his new administration might pursue efforts to reclaim control of the Panama Canal, which he described as having been “foolishly” handed over to Panama. He criticized the “ridiculous” fees imposed on shippers using the crucial waterway connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Panama’s conservative president, José Raúl Mulino unequivocally rejected the suggestion, labeling it an insult to his country’s sovereignty. Mulino said that “every square meter of the canal belongs to Panama and will continue to belong” to his country.
