With so many hot Chris's in Hollywood—particularly the ones appearing in superhero films—it seems Chris Hemsworth can't keep up with who's who.

Or is he playing us?

Hemsworth trolled fellow Avenger alum Chris Evans—who turned 40 on Sunday. Fans were both confused and in stitches over the joke.

Hemsworth—who played Thor in eight Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films—saluted Evans with a birthday post on Instagram.

He captioned it:

"Happy 40th birthday Chris Evans, you'll always be number 1 in my book."

However, the photo Hemsworth posted was of him and actor Chris Pratt, a.k.a. Peter Quill/Star-Lord from the Guardians of the Galaxy films.

Hemsworth reignited interest in the ongoing battle of the Chrises, which has fans constantly debating which Chris—among Hemsworth, Evans, Pratt and Star Trek/Wonder Woman actor Pine—they think is the hottest.

Fans played along with Hemsworth's joke in the comments.

Others took Hemsworth's birthday joke further by mentioning another Chris.

Another fan gave props to Hemsworth for a job well done.

Except, praise was given to another Hemsworth.

Twitter got in on the fun as well.

The confusion between Chris Evans and Chris Pratt isn't new.

Back in January, Pratt's father-in-law, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, mistakenly referred to one over the other.

During an IG charity event, Schwarzenegger—whose eldest daughter Katherine married Pratt in June 2019—said:

"Hello, Chris ... Evans, oh not Chris Evans, sorry, I'm going to screw up this whole thing right from the beginning, Chris Pratt."

And when asked in a 2017 interview with Access Hollywood about which Chris she preferred, a then-single Katherine Schwarzenegger answered, "Chris Evans."

But then added:

"Actually, Chris Pratt. Chris Pratt's been looking good lately, so you never know."
