Veteran producer Carol Baum sparked outrage from fans after going off on a tangent about the 'Euphoria' star's looks and acting ability after a screening of the 1988 film 'Dead Ringers' in NYC.

There's no denying Sydney Sweeney's insanity of a career over the last few years.

Hello, Euphoria, The White Lotus, Anyone but You and literally a dozen others.

But one person who dares to deny her talent and looks (oh myyyy) is producer Carol Baum.

The veteran producer of films such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Father of the Bride and Kicking and Screaming recently said Sweeney is "not pretty" and "can't act."

After a screening of the 1988 film Dead Ringers at the Jacob Burns Film Center in New York last week, Baum told the audience and moderator and New York Times critic Janet Maslin that she was baffled as to how Sweeney is currently "so hot."

According to the Daily Mail, Baum went on a rant about the actor and her recent flick Anyone but You.

“There’s an actress who everybody loves now - Sydney Sweeney."
“I don’t get Sydney Sweeney.”
"I was watching on the plane Sydney Sweeney’s movie because I wanted to watch it."
“I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’s talking about her."
"I watched this unwatchable movie — sorry to people who love this movie — [this] romantic comedy where they hate each other.”

She continued, referencing a discussion she had with the producing class she teaches at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.

“I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me.'"
"'She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?’"

Sweeney's fans immediately had her back on social media.

Oscar-nominated Producer Teddy Schwarzman, who worked with Sweeney on her latest film Immaculate, also took to social media to defend the star.

He tweeted:

“As a producer of ‘Immaculate,’ I’ll enlighten Ms. Baum that two-time Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney is not only one of the most talented actresses I’ve worked with, but also incredibly smart, kind and humble."

Oddly enough, Baum wouldn't hesitate to put Sweeney in one of her films.

Responding to an inquiry on the subject, she said:

"Nobody had an answer but then the question was asked, ‘Well if you could get your movie made because she was in it, would you do it?’"
"I said, 'Well that’s a really good question… that’s a very hard question to answer because we all want to get the movie made and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know."
"Your job is to get the movie made.'"

A rep for Sweeney released a statement to HuffPost on Wednesday, slamming Baum for her comments.

“How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman."
“If that’s what she’s learned in her decades in the industry and feels is appropriate to teach to her students, that’s shameful.”

Agreed!

People Divulge The Insults That Went Way Too Far

These days, social media ignore the old adage of "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all."

People hide behind anonymity and say cruel things about strangers they don't even know, which is extremely mean but also a cowardly way to be combative.
