No stranger to offensive hot takes, political commentator Candace Owens is back in the public eye with a new one.
During an appearance as a guest on Tucker Carlson Tonight, Owens claimed Black Americans are the "most murderous group" in the country.
This statement came about when the pair were discussing the arrest of Darrell Brooks, who plowed his vehicle into a crowd at a Waukesha, Wisconsin Christmas parade last month—killing six people and injuring more than 60 more.
She accused Democrats of ignoring a "racist narrative" for political reasons, saying:
"One thing I always say, Tucker, is the left can pull a racist narrative from thin air where it doesn’t exist. When it actually is in their face, they try to avoid it at all costs."
"Especially when the perpetrator is a Black person against another White person, which obviously happens more often in this country given the fact that Black Americans are the most murderous group in America by race."

The Young Turks' Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian also dragged Owens appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight for politicizing Brooks' actions and the subsequent legal case.

They pointed out Owens provided no relevant context for her claim, such as areas with lower resources—which are often Black neighborhoods—see higher crime rates because of socio-economic factors.
Uygur said:
"That is why they bring out Candace Owens because Tucker Carlson wants to call Black Americans murdering savages, but he knows he can’t do that, so he’s like that’s what we pay Candace for."
Uygur further refuted Owens' claims, saying if any group were named the most murderous in America it would be "White right-wingers–by a landslide."
