The Oscar winner was being interviewed by 'Entertainment Tonight' on the red carpet when Lopez walked up—and Larson grew visibily emotional as she told Lopez how she inspired her to become an actor.

Oscar-winning actor Brie Larson was over the moon upon encountering her idol, actor and singer Jennifer Lopez, on the Golden Globes red carpet.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Larson was visibly moved when she noticed Lopez, saying:

“Oh my god, I’m gonna cry. I can’t deal with JLo."

Larson took the opportunity to tell Lopez, "You mean so much to me!” before a beaming Lopez told her that she is "such a huge fan" of Larson's work, which includes her Academy Award-winning turn as a kidnapping victim in 2015's Room and her starring role as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Larson added:

“I saw ‘Selena’ and it made me want to be an actor, and you’ve always meant so much to me."

The two women then held hands for a moment as a clearly pleased Lopez said Larson was "going to make me cry."

You can see the moment in the video below.

People loved the sweet moment.

At the awards show, Lopez was accompanied by her husband, Ben Affleck, whose movie Air received a nomination for Best Motion Picture in the Musical or Comedy category.

Meanwhile, Larson was also nominated for her outstanding performance in Lessons in Chemistry in the category for Best Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television.

Larson has openly shared her artistic influences, notably mentioning the late director John Cassavetes—best known for films like A Woman Under the Influence and Opening Night—as one of her idols.

Reflecting on Cassavetes' work in October, she expressed that he is "one of the only filmmakers where I will put on the DVD just to listen to his commentary" and that she is fascinated by "His ideals, his pursuit of the road less travelled."

Clearly Larson, a well-respected performer with even more good work ahead of her, enjoys the work she does—and can't help but express gratitude to those who have inspired her along the way.
