There are a lot of conversations circulating about the differences between how Millennials and Gen-Zs are aging, but another hot topic will always be how some celebrities never seem to age a day—even when it's been decades.
Paul Rudd and Winona Ryder are popular examples of this on the big screen. A popular current example in TV shows is Bridgerton leading lady Nicola Coughlan, previously well-known for her role on Derry Girls.
Coughlan was ecstatic when she was offered the leading role for the current season of Bridgerton, but with any plus-sized performer, unfortunately, some people focus more on size than performance.
In an article she wrote for Harper's Bazaar, Coughlan challenged viewers to see her for who she is, rather than the body she inhabits. Instead of focusing on her appearance, the star encouraged fans to think of the roles that she's played, on and off the screen.
While discussing her performance history and body, Coughlan brought up her age and how frequently people are surprised to hear she is 37, especially considering her teenage roles. (Her current character is supposed to be between 18 and 19.)
Some fans were simply shocked at how young Coughlan looks.
Others agreed and shared how young they thought she actually was.
From top-notch skincare routines to winning the genetic lottery, there are some people who never seem to age, no matter how old they actually are or how much time they've spent in the sun!
For better or worse, this is especially helpful to actors who want to continue to perform in a wide variety of roles before aging out of them.
As Coughlan facetiously advised in her Harper's Bazaar essay:
"Be permanently 22 years old. Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to age beyond this, and if you do try to counteract the process with Botox or fillers, people will say it’s bad because you’re scared of ageing."
"Instead, I suggest cryogenically freezing yourself and only defrosting if the part is really worth it."
She is wise beyond her TV years and funny, to boot.
