Brandy Is Making Her Triumphant Return As Cinderella In A New Movie—And Fans Are Losing It

Brandy as Cinderella (1997)
Disney

The singer and actor originally debuted as Cinderella in 1997's made-for-TV version of 'Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.'

Our childhood hearts are bursting.

It has been 26 years since Brandy played Cinderella in Disney's 1997 made-for-TV version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella.

In the adaptation, Cinderella was mistreated by her stepmother (Bernadette Peters) and stepsisters. Everything changed when her Fairy Godmother (the late legend Whitney Houston) granted her an unforgettable night that altered her path forever when she fell for the charming Prince Christopher, who was portrayed by Paolo Montalban.

On Wednesday, Disney+ shared a video on social media revealing Brandy and Montalban—now King Charming—on the set of the upcoming musical fantasy Descendants: Rise of Red, directed by Jennifer Phang.

And the world is collectively losing it.

The Rise of Red is the fourth installment of the Descendants franchise. It follows the story of Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella and King Charming, as they travel back in time to change the course of history in hopes of stopping an impending coup.

Aside from Brandy and Montalban, the cast includes Malia Baker as their daughter, Kylie Cantrall as Red, Rita Ora as the Queen of Hearts and Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother. Ruby Rose Turner, Morgan Dudley, Joshua Coley, Jeremy Swift and Leonardo Nam are also set to appear in the film.

A release date has not been announced, but we can confirm that it is not soon enough.
