Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert has often invoked God in political discussions and is now being criticized for her hypocritical stance on what the Bible states about premarital sex in regard to her teenage son's girlfriend's pregnancy.
Boebert recently spoke about her son Tyler’s impending fatherhood during an interview on The Rubin Report, a conservative political talk show. Boebert was asked by host Dave Rubin if Tyler’s girlfriend’s pregnancy "challenged" any of her beliefs as a Christian.
Boebert replied that while there are standards to uphold, she doesn’t plan to "nitpick what the Bible says" about the situation. She stated that having a "heart posture of wanting to serve God" is more important, and she plans to teach her son about "redemption and moving forward."
You can hear what Boebert said in the video below.

Boebert said:
"Obviously, I'm a Christian, and there are standards that we like to uphold, but none of us do it perfectly... There’s things all throughout the week that I know is right to do and sometimes, you know, I don’t do them."
"We can nitpick what the Bible says is right and wrong, but I think just having that heart posture of wanting to serve God, it's so important."
Boebert, who is 36 years old, announced her own impending grandmotherhood at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in March. She stated she will become a “gigi” to her grandson in April.
Tyler was originally planning to attend a university in Florida, but will now take petroleum engineering classes at a local community college.
Boebert has been vocal about her religious beliefs in the past and invoked God when discussing political matters.
She was a teen mother herself, dropping out of high school in 2004 after becoming pregnant with her boyfriend Jayson Boebert’s child. The couple later married and have four children together.
“lauren boebert’s kids now continuing her family cycle of teen pregnancy, joking about how she’ll be a 36-year-old grandma and how she made her mom a grandma at 36 is tragic actually. celebrating her son and his girlfriend being teen parents as a pro-life talking point is tragic”— danielle weisberg (@danielle weisberg) 1678417275
“@patriottakes I guess the cycle of teen pregnancy in her family didn't stop with Lauren Boebert.”— PatriotTakes 🇺🇸 (@PatriotTakes 🇺🇸) 1678301963
Many have criticized Boebert’s comments as lacking in accountability for her son’s actions.
“@patriottakes It’s always interesting how Folks cherry picked the Bible and decide which sin they wanna focus on. It’s almost as if the ones always throwing rocks live in a glass house.”— PatriotTakes 🇺🇸 (@PatriotTakes 🇺🇸) 1680203955
“@patriottakes She's all but saying, "it's okay when me and my family do it, just not yours."

These people will reject their own supposed values with a straight face the minute they get called out for their actions.”— PatriotTakes 🇺🇸 (@PatriotTakes 🇺🇸) 1680203955
“@patriottakes Things like “love the lord thy God with all your heart, and soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself”?

She’s not a Christ-follower.”— PatriotTakes 🇺🇸 (@PatriotTakes 🇺🇸) 1680203955

“@patriottakes So basically I can screw up all I want because no one is perfect? Not exactly the creed Lauren.

Of course that's if I believe that you are a Christian.

No real Christian buys it. Had any neighbors call 911 on you lately? Even they despise you!”— PatriotTakes 🇺🇸 (@PatriotTakes 🇺🇸) 1680203955

“@patriottakes I'm confused. First she says the Bible is the word of God and absolute and now she says not to nitpick what it says. So which is it?”— PatriotTakes 🇺🇸 (@PatriotTakes 🇺🇸) 1680203955
Boebert has previously criticized "comprehensive sex education" as unsuitable for children, stating no public school students should be exposed to such information and schools providing it should have their funding reduced.
She also asserted elementary school students were being taught such subjects, but did not provide evidence to support her claim.
Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advocates offering sexual education and other resources to teenagers to prevent teen pregnancies.
