Lauren Boebert Dragged For Trying To Claim That Gun Control Is Somehow 'Anti-Woman'

Republican Representative Lauren Boebert has a new line to explain why she so fervently objects to gun control laws: They're anti-woman.

In a tweet posted just hours before the third mass shooting in as many weeks, Boebert claimed that gun control is misogynist because a gun is the only way a woman can be safe in a "dangerous liberal city."

The post drew immediate outrage.

Boebert's tweet mad several bizarre claims about guns and violence before reaching her "anti-woman" charge. It read:

"The Left's gun control agenda will affect America's women more than anyone else."
"I'm a five foot tall, 100 pound woman. The only way I'm safe to walk around any dangerous liberal city is with an equalizer."
"Gun control is anti-woman."

As is typical in her public statements, Boebert placed the blame for supposedly misogynist gun control laws squarely at the feet of Democrats and the American Left.

But polling research shows that support for stricter gun laws in the United States is not confined to the left. The most recent polling, released last year, shows that 35% of Republicans want stricter gun laws--a far cry from the Democratic and nationwide figures of 90% and 65% respectively, but a significant number of right-wing people nonetheless.

And as for crime in "dangerous liberal cities," despite the continued rhetoric of politicians like Boebert, particularly former President Donald Trump before her, it has been consistently and often precipitously declining for nearly 30 years. According to FBI data, violent crime declined by 49% between 1993 and 2019.

As for misogyny and crimes against women, Boebert voted against the Violence Against Women Act which addresses women's issues like domestic violence, incidents of which are 5x more likely to be lethal if an abuser has access to a gun. Fifty-three women die in this manner every month America, according to Everytown for Gun Safety.

On Twitter, Boebert was swiftly dragged for her ridiculous claims about gun control.

Just 12 hours after Boebert's tweet, another mass shooting occurred in Orange, California in which four people died, including one child.

Trump Dragged After Making Ridiculous Claim About Randomly Finding Billions On The 'Tariff Shelf'

President Donald Trump was criticized after he claimed to reporters this week that officials in his administration suddenly found $30 billion they "never knew existed"—located on what Trump referred to as the "tariff shelf."

Tariffs are a tax on imported goods, usually calculated as a percentage of the purchase price. While tariffs can shield domestic manufacturers by making foreign products more expensive, they are also used as a tool to penalize countries engaged in unfair trade practices, such as government subsidies or dumping goods below market value.

Bride's Friends Surprise Her With Montage Video Of All Her Exes At Bachelorette Party—And People Are Mortified

While Jenny Han's novel To All the Boys I've Loved Before was a major hit, and even became a great film success in 2018, not everyone's married to the idea of reconnecting with their exes after the relationships end.

It might be nice to imagine staying friends after the relationships, imagining our exes missing us or regretting losing us, or even giving us an apology for the things they did wrong. But most of us pine for this for a little while, realize it's all a fairy tale, and push past it to better things and new love.
