Freshman GOP Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, of Colorado, recently did her very best to stir controversy during a hearing with Acting White House Budget Director Shalanda Young.
The only problem was Young had absolutely no interest getting down in the weeds with Boebert and her hyper-partisan inquiries.
During the hearing, Boebert, who's already turned heads with her radical open-carry firearm views and staunch support of conspiracy theories, used her allotted time to ask Young how the Biden administration had been handling the southern border of the U.S.
Boebert, as usual, took the incendiary approach:
"How long will you be ceding the southern border to the cartels?"
Young responded with some harsh truths.
She explained the Trump administration—which Boebert proudly supported—diverted billions of dollars from the U.S. military to beef up a border wall that experts and Border Patrol officials said would have little positive impact whatsoever.
"We are returning the billions of dollars that were taken from our men and women and troops in uniform for the southern border work."
"So this administration is returning Department of Defense money that bipartisan members decried."
Boebert grew frustrated and repeated her question.
Young, again, kept a cool head.
"Given the bipartisan concern, I thought it was important to highlight that."
"And to also highlight that we are moving away from an unsustainable border wall—that has not worked—to technology, as you pointed out..."
Boebert, apparently worked up to a frenzy by this point, interjected again with her same question about "ceding the southern border to the cartels."
But Young shut it down.
"That's not a question with an assumption I'm going to assume."
"So we can certainly talk about the reassessment of the border."See the whole exchange below:

People who saw the exchange were glad to see Young dispense with Boebert's antagonistic non-question.

Given Boebert just joined Congress in January of this year, we had better get used to ill-informed, inflammatory exchanges like these for the next 18 months.
It seems to be all she has to offer.
