For any species, a mother losing her babies is a heartbreaking experience. One beagle suffered this tragedy, but found comfort in another unlikely creature.

Molly is the beagle who recently lost her litter of puppies.

Full of maternal instinct and compassion, Molly found a recently orphaned possum named Poss.

The pair met and live on a Western Victorian cattle farm in Australia.

Being a possum, Poss is nocturnal. She typically sleeps in one particular set of trees.

Molly can be found lying under the trees waiting for Poss to wake up.

Molly's owner, Elle Moyle said,

"They're an unlikely pair. I think Possum though Molly was her mother and vice versa."

Sarah Moyle, another one of Molly's owners, said,

"It certainly uplifted me. They both needed each other, I think. So it's been a pretty fantastic relationship."

Due to the difficulties of navigating a cattle farm as a baby possum, Poss has taken to riding around the farm on Molly's back.

Despite being an unconventional duo, the two animals have won the hearts of the internet.

Bitter Life Lessons People Learned From Their Longest Relationships

Couples who have been in long-lasting relationships for years and thought they were in it for the long haul sometimes find that things don't always pan out the way they initially hoped. Many perpetually single people envy couples who've been together for years, but they don't always know what happens behind closed doors.
