Video Of Former NYC Ballerina With Dementia Recalling Her 'Swan Lake' Choreography Goes Viral

A moving video of a former ballerina with dementia remembering the choreography she danced to decades ago has gone viral after being shared by a charity.

The clip shows Marta C. Gonzalez, who died in 2019, listening to Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake.

Gonzalez had been a prima ballerina with the New York Ballet in the 1960s.

The emotional moment was shared by the Asociación Música para Despertar, a Spanish charity which uses the music of dementia patients' lives to improve their mood and memory, among other things.

In the video Gonzalez listens to the music through a pair of headphones and soon begins to replicate the choreography she danced to all those years ago.

Actor Antonio Banderas shared the clip on Facebook, writing that he hoped the video would serve as “a well-deserved recognition of her art and her passion."

After finishing her performance, she is met with applause by those present at the care home in Valencia.

She is then comforted as she tells a care worker she is "emotional."

The inspiring video quickly went viral on Twitter.

Several people shared their own experiences with Alzheimer's and dementia.

We're all emotional, to be honest.

“The power of music is immeasurable," the charity said. “May she rest in peace."

Canada Goose Fends Off Bald Eagle Attack In Viral Photos—And The Symbolism Is Off The Charts

The symbolism is hard to miss in viral photos caught by photographer Mervyn Sequeira of a 20-minute fight between a Canada goose and a bald eagle, prompting many to draw comparisons to the current relationship between Canada and the United States as President Donald Trump continues to attack the country and its leadership.

During his weekly Sunday morning hike at LaSalle Marina, Sequeira and his family witnessed a fight between a bald eagle, the national bird of the U.S., and a Canada goose, an iconic symbol of Canada. Sequiera documented this unusual eagle-goose battle on February 23.

Trump Slammed After Reposting Article Telling Americans To 'Shut Up About Egg Prices'

President Donald Trump was harshly criticized after he reposted an article on Truth Social from Turning Point USA activist Charlie Kirk with the headline "Shut Up About Egg Prices — Trump Is Saving Consumers Millions."

Throughout his election campaign, Trump repeatedly promised that his administration would take on high prices, even pledging to lower them on his very first day in office. However, the latest data tells a different story: Inflation in the U.S. has actually climbed since he took over, unexpectedly rising to a six-month high of 3% in January.
