An Easter Egg In The 'Avengers: Endgame' Trailer Has Us Very Concerned For Hawkeye

One very welcome piece of news from the Avengers: Endgame trailer is that everyone's favorite bow-slinger, Clint Barton (aka Hawkeye), will be returning for the final fight against Thanos.

Sadly, however, fans have discovered a small detail tucked away in the trailer that doesn't bode well for the character's wellbeing in what may be his final movie.

*Warning: potential spoilers ahead!*

Did you catch it? Hawkeye appears a couple of times in the new trailer. The first time, he appears on the streets of Japan with a new haircut and an absolutely dour expression. The second time, he looks cheerful and happy, teaching a young girl (perhaps his daughter) how to fire arrows.

But where do these moments happen in the movie? What significance do they have, and is one connected to the other?

Fans may have figured it out! During the scene where Hawkeye shoots arrows with a young girl, a detail went unnoticed by many: he's wearing an ankle bracelet similar to the one wore by Scott Lang in Ant-Man & The Wasp.

If Clint is still under house arrest, assumably because of his participation in Avengers: Civil War, then that scene must take place before Thanos's deadly snap which wiped out half of the universe.

Which would mean that, sadly, the young girl is likely his daughter (or maybe Kate Bishop, an Avenger-in-training) and that she's now disintegrated, resulting in the edgier, moodier Hawkeye wielding a sword and seeking vengeance in Asia.

Fans want nothing but the best for America's most wholesome archer.

Some have noted that Hawkeye's new costume looks a lot like his alter-ego Ronin from the comic book universe.

Of course, Marvel is famous for misleading and misdirecting fans during their trailers, so we won't know for certain what becomes of Hawkeye until Avengers: Endgame premieres on April 26—see you there!
