Australian Teen Stunned After Waking Up To Find Out People Were Saying She Died At Astroworld

The tragedy at Astroworld has made international headlines for the last several weeks after ten people died and hundreds more were injured during a crowd panic situation at Travis Scott's concert at the popular music festival.

It's transfixing in the worst way.

But one Australian teenager was transfixed for a completely different reason. People around the internet were falsely claiming she was one of the many dead at the concert.

Not only was she alive and well, but she'd never even been to the festival. In fact, when the concert was happening, she was safe and sound down under.

Amelyun Nguyen, the Sydney, Australia teenager in question, was absolutely flabbergasted when her photos and information started showing up around Twitter as one of the victims of the concert.

"I was honestly very confused and was wondering how people found my pictures," she said to BuzzFeed News.

But TikTok's got jokes.

Nguyen said she was coming home from school when her Instagram started to blow up.

As the rumor of her death spread quickly, people attempted to reach out to her family and friends to express condolences.

"My high school in Toronto has made a GoFundMe for your daughter," one misguided kind soul messaged her.

Nguyen is also not a Travis Scott fan by any stretch of the imagination, as she clarified, "before and after the incident."

The question remains, then, how Nguyen was singled out in the first place, as nobody had any reason to believe she was at Astroworld, halfway across the world in the United States, seeing a Travis Scott concert.

The list of victims who died at Astroworld is available here, and is correctly missing Nguyen.

The most recent, a 9-year-old boy, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
