The Long-Running Children's Show 'Arthur' Finished With A Flash-Forward—And It's Getting Roasted Hard

The Long-Running Children's Show 'Arthur' Finished With A Flash-Forward—And It's Getting Roasted Hard
PBS

The children's show Arthur, following the titular Aardvark and his family and friends, came to an end after 25 years on air on Monday, February 21.

The series finale saw a flash forward in time to show the characters all grown up.

The results kind of messed with everybody's heads.

All of the characters, including Francine, Buster, DW, and even Arthur himself, are given slight changes to their character design for the age up.

The biggest difference for Arthur?

The hair. Arthur was a bald aardvark for the entire series, but mysteriously acquired the locks of an e-boy in his adult life.

The last episode of the show saw the main crew playing a game wherein Oskar the Octopus predicted each and every one of their futures in 20 years.

The Octopus was absolutely correct about each character. DW, a career tattle-tale, became a cop; Francine, sporting a new short haircut, owns a sneaker business; and Buster is a teacher.

People had mixed feelings about where each character ended up.

The beloved series began airing in 1996 with the episode "Arthur's Eyes," based on the original book by Marc Brown, where Arthur's friends make fun of him for his glasses in school by chanting "four eyes!" at him.

In the series finale, Arthur himself has written a graphic novel telling the stories of all of his friends as they were children, since he was never given a future by Oskar the Octopus.

Despite the series finale being roasted on social media, Arthur's run on television brought so many memories and sentimental learning moments for 90s and 00s kids alike.

The show also made history in 2019 by having Mr. Ratburn marry his same-sex partner in the season opener.

RIP, Arthur, and thanks for the memories.

Trump Accidentally Roasts Himself With Ironic Question About 'Stupid People'

President Donald Trump was widely mocked after he attempted to defend his disastrous tariff strategy to reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday and issued a rhetorical question about "stupid people" that said more about him than anyone else.

Trump would later declare a full 90-day suspension of all the “reciprocal” tariffs that took effect at midnight April 10—except for those on China—in a dramatic about-face from a president who had long championed his historically high tariff rates as permanent.

Citizens of both Greenland and the Faroe Islands are full citizens of Denmark. As one of the Overseas Countries and Territories of the European Union, Greenland’s citizens are also recognized as EU citizens.
