Sometimes, date night ends unexpectedly with an arrest.
But in this case, both parties on the date were the ones making the arrest.
Chase and Nicole McKeown, from Elizabethtown, Kentucky were dining at Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers in Louisville around 10pm on Saturday, February 15. After a person in a mask entered the restaurant and the couple spotted the cashier put their hands up, the couple knew instantly what was happening.
The couple—who are Elizabethtown cops—pulled handguns on the suspect and chased him out of the establishment.
The couple remained in pursuit of the suspect for several blocks until they caught him, where they detained him until the Lousiville Metro Police arrested him.
Detective Dan Mason of the Louisville Metro Police Department's Robbery Unit said:
"It is my belief that if not for the heroic actions of these two officers the perpetrator's actions inside the business would have escalated, they acted honorable and heroically."
The suspect in custody, 30 year-old Justin Carter, has been charged with robbery, receiving stolen property and being a felon in possession of a handgun—but has reportedly pleaded not guilty.
The couple says the incident has in no way dashed their love for Raising Cane's.
"I love Raising Cane's," said Nicole, hinting they'd return soon, so any would-be robbers beware!
