After Critics' Choice Awards presenter Bella Ramsey classified DeBose, along with Jack Black and Ryan Gosling, as 'actors who also think that they’re singers,' DeBose was clearly miffed—but they hugged it out a day later at the Emmy Awards.

Oscar-winning actor Ariana DeBose and the Last of Us star Bella Ramsey were spotted hugging each other at the Primetime Emmy Awards after Ramsey, as a presenter at the 2024 Critics' Choice Awards, made a joke about DeBose that didn't land.

Ramsey was presenting alongside Transformers star Anthony Ramos to present the category for Best Song at the 29th Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday.

The 19-year-old read off the teleprompter and said:

“Then there are the actors who also think that they’re singers―Jack Black, Ariana DeBose and Ken himself, Ryan Gosling."

DeBose was clearly not amused.

The line, of course, was ironic given the names mentioned were all capable singers–especially Broadway vet DeBose, who won her Oscar for her performance in the movie musical remake of West Side Story, and Jack Black who had an entire singing career as part of the rock duo Tenacious D.

But there seemed to be no beef between her and Ramsey as they were spotted hugging it out in the audience at Monday night's Emmy Awards.

DeBose is an Academy Award-winning actress, who won Best Supporting Actress for playing Anita in Steven Spielberg's 2021 West Side Story remake.

Before winning the Oscar, the 32-year-old appeared in many Broadway musicals, including Hamilton, Motown: The Musical, and Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, for which she was nominated in 2018 for Best Featured Actress in a Musical Tony.

She recently voiced the main character Asha in Disney's Wish. Her song from the movie, "This Wish," was nominated in the Best Song category at the Critics' Choice Awards.

Given her talents and accomplishments, the joke about actors who think they can sing hit a sour note, which DeBose confirmed in an Instagram story, saying:

“No I didn’t find it funny. Lol."

Others didn't either.

But some people came to Ramsey's defense.

And users delighted in the hug indicating there were no hard feelings.

DeBose's song "This Wish" lost the Critics' Choice Awards Best Song category to "I'm Just Ken" performed by Ryan Gosling in Barbie.

Two other songs nominated were also from Barbie, including Dua Lipa's "Dance the Night" and Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For."

The latter won the 2024 Golden Globe Award, a defeat that led to fellow Barbie nominee, music producer Mark Ronson, getting flak online for posting a photo of his torn-up acceptance speech.

The remaining Critics' Choice Best Song nominations included Jack Black's "Peaches" from The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Lenny Kravitz's "Road to Freedom" from Rustin.
