New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted about an encounter with right-wing Twitter troll Alex Stein, who accosted her on the steps of the United States Capitol.
Ocasio-Cortez called the incident "deeply disgusting" and lamented the experience of working "in an institution that openly allowed this, but talking about it only invites more."
She chose to repost a video of the incident and admitted she was ready to "deck him because if no one will protect us then I'll do it myself."
You can watch the video below.
“Here is a video he posted of the incident. I was actually walking over to deck him because if no one will protect us then I’ll do it myself but I needed to catch a vote more than a case today”— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) 1657762462
In the video, Stein refers to Ocasio-Cortez as "AOC, my favorite big booty Latina," adding:
"I love you AOC, you’re my favorite. She wants to kill babies, but she’s still beautiful. You look very beautiful in that dress."
“You look very sexy. Look at that booty on AOC. Hot, hot, hot like a tamale!”
Stein continued to troll Ocasio-Cortez after she posted the video online, telling her if "you really love me you would of [sic] at least tagged me."

After she chose to block him to stop him from seeing and responding to her posts, he responded with mock devastation.
“😭😭😭 I’m devastated”— Alex Stein #99 (@Alex Stein #99) 1657764232
Many threw support behind Ocasio-Cortez after the video went viral and condemned Stein's obvious racial and sexual harassment.
“If you’re more offended over AOC tweeting she wanted to punch this guy than you are about this man blatantly sexually harassing her, you’re a subhuman degenerate condemned to hell.”— HUNTER AVALLONE (@HUNTER AVALLONE) 1657825231
“Remember 8 minutes ago when the entire right were having paroxysms of outrage because a rapey perjuror who has taken away millions of people's reproductive rights was disturbed in a steakhouse?”— Time's Carcass 💀☭🏺📉 (@Time's Carcass 💀☭🏺📉) 1657790979
“This is the type of disgusting sexist/racist behavior WOC deal with constantly.”— Crafty Feminist | Stand With Ukraine 🇺🇦 (@Crafty Feminist | Stand With Ukraine 🇺🇦) 1657827192
“I just want to emphasize something about this: Congress is very much the people’s House and people are entitled to free speech. But @aoc was doing this while going to work. Imagine being sexually harassed like that while walking to your office, just as an analogy.”— Eric Michael Garcia (@Eric Michael Garcia) 1657767233
“A grown MAGA man hurls cat-calls and misogynistic slurs while @AOC is trying to go to work. What if he was armed? This needs to be condemned by every GOP member. But because AOC is a female, and because she is a Democrat — the Republicans will turn a blind eye. Truly shameful.”— Dash Dobrofsky (@Dash Dobrofsky) 1657775801
“This guy is a million times worse than those Covington Catholic kids, but will receive only a tiny fraction of attention, because American politics have shifted such that this has become almost normalized.”— Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇦 (@Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇦) 1657774380
Ocasio-Cortez has previously spoken about the sexism she has faced as a member of Congress.
She made national headlines in July 2020 after she took to the House floor to enter into the Congressional record a sexist vulgarity said to her by Florida Republican Representative Ted Yoho, who later denied saying the slur after she observed incidents like the one she described "happen every day," even "on the steps of our nation's Capitol."
Last year, she criticized West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin after he failed to use her official title and referred to her as a "young lady" in an interview, openly questioning why "this kind of weird, patronizing behavior is so accepted."
