AOC Claps Back With Brutal Reminder After Mike Johnson Tried To Blame Democrats For Possible Shutdown

After Speaker Mike Johnson tried to pre-emptively blame Democrats for an impending government shutdown, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fired back with a brutal reality check.

Democratic New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez epically clapped back after GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson suggested that Democrats would be responsible for a potential government shutdown.

After the House passed a bill to fund the government through September 30 by a vote of 217-213, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson took to X to dare Democrats to oppose the bill, insisting that if the government shuts down, it's Democrats' fault.

Johnson wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

"Every House Democrat but one voted to shut down the government yesterday."
"Chuck Schumer needs to decide: will Senate Democrats keep the government funded or will they join House Democrats and shut it down?"

On Wednesday, AOC fired back by reminding Johnson that Republicans have control of the House, Senate, and White House.

She wrote:

"You run the government. If you have the votes, then go ahead. If you need Democrats, then you need to negotiate with Democrats. Those are your two options."

"Blaming someone else because your shoes are untied isn’t one," AOC added.

The bill now awaits approval from the Senate, which would require bipartisan support, including at least eight Democrats, for it to overcome a filibuster and reach Donald Trump's desk.

According to the Washington Post, Democrats are hoping to block the bill, citing the fact that it was drafted without any input from Democrats and that it includes increased military funding while imposing massive cuts to non-defense programs.

Social media users gave AOC props for her on-point clapback.

Other users commented on the GOP's reluctance to work together with the opposing party to reach a solution.

Others heaped criticism on Johnson.

The Senate is expected to vote on the temporary spending bill Friday morning ahead of a Friday night government funding deadline.

People Break Down How They've Been Genetically Blessed And Cursed

And it does seem to be laughably true that while some people seem to "have it all," there are others who needed to be humbled a little bit, or else they'd be totally insufferable.
