AOC Eviscerates GOP Colleagues With History Lesson About The Confederacy In Blistering Rant

AOC Eviscerates GOP Colleagues With History Lesson About The Confederacy In Blistering Rant

During the riot at the U.S. Capitol last Wednesday, January 6, several members of the crowd carried the flag of the Confederacy.

Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York filmed a short clip of herself explaining why carrying the Confederate flag into the Capitol was so chilling.

AOC followed up with a tweet reminding her colleagues in Congress the Confederate flag is a symbol of White supremacy.

That AOC even needed to point out the seriousness of this issue was disturbing to many online.

The Congresswoman earned gratitude for standing up to her colleague's misguided ideals.

The same Republican party which once fought tooth-and-nail against the Confederacy now seems intent upon glorifying it.

Many countries manage to remember the darker passages of their histories without honoring the villains.

Americans must be wary of forgetting historical context, lest they risk repeating the follies of the past.

AOC pointed out—and many people concurred—the Confederate flag has no place at the U.S. Capitol. All true patriots should understand that.
