Yet Another Boat Just Got Stuck In The Suez Canal—And The Jokes Practically Write Themselves Now

The Xin Hai Tong 23 recently got stuck after the Ever Given famously blocked the canal for six days back in 2021, disrupting one of the busiest shipping channels in the world.

Another boat just got stuck in the Suez Canal in Egypt, just over two years after the Ever Given blocked the canal for six days, and, well, people are having their fun with it.

With around 30 percent of the world's shipping container volume passing through it, the longest big ship canal in the world is also one of the busiest. The Beijing–Hangzhou Grand Canal in China is the longest and the oldest cargo shipping canal in the world.

And while undoubtedly the blockage caused by the Xin Hai Tong 23 resulted in some inconvenient worldwide delays, we sure do love some good meme inspo. And the 189 meter-long Hong Kong-flagged carrier delivered... well, eventually.

People on social media immediately took the opportunity to share their jokes, just for ships and giggles.

Unlike the Ever Given, the Xin Hai Tong 23 was set free after just a couple of tugs and at peak traffic time. The delay only accumulated a four-vessel backup.

Thankfully, though, it was long enough to provide hours of online entertainment.

The portrait of Obama, unveiled in 2022 during former President Joe Biden’s administration, remains on display in the White House but has been relocated. Originally hung near the staircase to the presidential residence on the State Floor, it has been moved to the opposite wall—where a portrait of former President George W. Bush once hung.
