As time goes on, the Republican party seems to be splitting on their support for Donald Trump. Though it's less of an even cleave and more a strange mix of support and criticism for different and selfish reasons.
For instance, despite having very similar views, Glenn Youngkin succeeded in his gubernatorial race in Virginia in part by distancing himself from Trump.
You also get right-wing commentator Ann Coulter speaking out against Trump, saying he lied to his constituents.
This isn't the first time Coulter targeted the former President.
One of the prominent figures that supported Trump in 2016 is worried about the possibility of him being elected again in 2024. Here we go again.https://t.co/UBSHwmdsbw

Says a lot about her, doesn't it?

On a recent podcast with fellow right-wing political commentator Andrew Sullivan, Coulter explained her disdain for former President Donald Trump.
She said:
"I was well familiar with what a narcissistic, ridiculous, tacky, vulgar, arriviste this guy was. That I knew about. The one thing I underestimated, in fact, did not see at all, is I had no idea how abjectly stupid the man is."
In 2016, Coulter supported Trump and his campaign. Despite her lack of critical thinking, she's made the right call here, right?
How can we agree with something she's said?
Wow. I agree with Ann Coutler about something. pic.twitter.com/ToeYMYEaJV

Never thought I would too...

Hard to agree with Ann Coulter...but in this case she's right.

I rarely agree with this shell of a human, however, she's spot on with this one. https://t.co/6wtjB6GXFJ

Of course, nothing is that simple.
While Youngkin saw the association with Trump as damaging to his image, Coulter instead is upset the former President didn't follow through on all of his terrible promises.
According toCoulter, one "lie" Trump told his supporters was about the literal wall he would build along the southern border.
Coulter is upset Trump didn't waste billions of dollars on a useless border wall.
"In my defense, a lot of journalists would ask me during 2016, when I was promoting [her book] In Trump We Trust, they'd say, 'Oh he's not really going to build the wall' and I'd laugh at them. I'd laugh and say, 'No the one thing he's got to do is build the wall'."
It's safe to say, Coulter still supports White nationalism and a host of anti-LGBTQ+ positions.
Ann Coulter is a hardcore racist, popular with neo-nazis and yet she can make one true statement about Trump and suddenly she's treated as if she's a decent human being again. She still profits from the promotion of hate.

Why is Ann Coulter attacking Trump? She sees that the National Republican Senate Committee is moving away from Trump's midterm candidates, because he's just that unpopular. Coulter is an opportunist who usually knows which way the wind about to blow, and she knows Trump is toast.

Ann Coulter may have called Trump abjectly stupid but she's still a fucking racist.
— Kate 🤍🇺🇸 (@ImSpeaking13) November 9, 2021
Coulter is clearly betting that she can rack up more book sales with right wingers in the coming year by going anti-Trump than she could by going pro-Trump. And she usually guesses right on these things. This is a terrible sign for Trump's big pipe dream about a magic comeback.
— Palmer Report (@PalmerReport) November 9, 2021
No, shes known all along, she's just saying it out loud now.
— Teagan's Mom (@TeaganIsMyLove) November 7, 2021
Coulter's fury comes from Trump making the border wall his main focus of the campaign then not being able to get it approved or funded when Republicans controlled both chambers of Congress.
But the split on the right between the support and rejection of Trump is striking.
While pundits like Coulter might be turning on Trump, QAnon supporters are getting even weirder in their belief and support. Even the relatively obscure portion of the cult that believed JFK Jr. was alive swelled and descended on Dallas.
