The 'Law & Order' star spoke out on Instagram after police let the Instacart delivery driver go because he claimed the fatal shooting of her beloved dog Ollie was 'self-defense.'

Actor Angie Harmon said she was "devastated" after her family dog Oliver was allegedly shot and killed by a delivery driver over Easter weekend.

Delivery drivers have grown increasingly in demand since before the pandemic, helped by the convenience of food delivery and grocery shopping transactions from home through various apps like UberEats and DoorDash.

The last thing patrons would expect from such a simple transaction is the nightmare Harmon experienced that resulted in the loss of her pet.

The star of TV shows like Law & Order and Rizzoli & Isles detailed the tragic incident on Monday's Instagram post.

"This Easter weekend a man delivering groceries for Instacart shot & killed our precious Oliver," she wrote.

Harmon said of the driver:

"He got out of his car, delivered the food & THEN shot our dog."
"Our ring camera was charging in the house, which he saw & then knew he wasn’t being recorded."
"The police let him go b/c he claimed 'self defense'. He did not have a scratch or bite on him nor were his pants torn."
"He was shopping under a woman’s identity named Merle… the pic is on my story."
"He shot our dog with my daughters & myself at home & just kept saying, 'yeah, I shot your dog. Yeah I did.'”
"We are completely traumatized & beyond devastated at the loss of our beloved boy & family member."

The post was accompanied by a carousel of images of the family pet, and she closed the caption with the hashtag #RIP OLLIE.

Social media users encouraged Harmon to continue looking into this.

According to Indy100, the tragedy unfolded at a residence in North Carolina.

Police confirmed parts of Harmon's story, and there were reportedly no arrests or charges following the incident.

The driver, who worked for the food delivery service Instacart, insisted to the police that he shot the dog in self-defense.

A spokesperson for Instacart stated in response to what happened:

“We were deeply saddened and disturbed to hear about this incident. We have no tolerance for violence of any kind.”

Rest in peace, Ollie.
