On Wednesday, January 17, it was announced the Capitol Police Department opened investigations into two Congressmen who disobeyed safety rules following the January 6 insurrection.

On January 12, Matt Fuller, a reporter for Huffpost, witnessed Republican Congressman Russ Fulcher of Idaho "manhandle" a Black, female Capitol police officer.

On January 21, Republican Congressman Andy Harris of Maryland was caught trying to carry a concealed gun onto the House floor.

Though members of Congress are allowed to carry weapons in the Capitol complex, guns are not permitted inside the House chamber.

Though no charges have been filed in either case, Capitol Police investigations are still ongoing into the two Congressmen.

Twitter criticized the two Republicans for their disregard for safety.

Many online hoped Fulcher and Harris would face consequences.

When it comes to Congress, it shouldn't be too much to ask duly elected representatives take basic precautions like leave their guns outside or walk through a metal detector on their way in without assaulting a police officer.
