Alyssa Milano Balks After Whoopi Chastises Her For Staying On Twitter: 'We Can't Cede Territory'

Goldberg clashed with Milano on 'The View' over Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter.

Alyssa Milano and Whoopi Goldberg were in strong disagreement over their stances on keeping Twitter accounts during a recent episode of The View.

Many celebrities like Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes and singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles have left Twitter over Elon Musk's $44 billion acquisition of the social media platform, citing concerns over Musk's position on free speech and misinformation.

Milano, however, is choosing not to deactivate her Twitter account.

When asked why, the former Who's the Boss? actress argued the situation has turned into a "turf war" and that “we can’t cede territory.”

This didn't sit well with Goldberg, who quit Twitter.

"Nah. Not that. That one you don’t — there’s other ones you can come and grab, leave that to them,” said Whoopi.

“‘Cause that’s what that is meant to be now. It’s not meant to be any better than what we’re seeing.”

Milano did not concur.

She replied:

“But if we’re not representing our side of the political discourse, aren’t we just saying, ‘You know what, you can have Twitter?’”

You can watch the two defend their respective positions in the clip below.

Goldberg remained adamant about walking away and encouraged Milano to reconsider.

“Some things you have to walk away from until you can get the control you need of it. Right now, there’s no way to get this control.”
“And so, find the ones that you can get and fix, and then come back and run that over."
"But do yourself a favor. Do yourself a favor."

Milano, a former supporter of Musk's vision, even got rid of her Tesla after allegations of sexual misconduct were leveled at the CEO and chief engineer of SpaceX. He has vehemently denied any such allegations.

Regarding Musk's controversial Twitter takeover, Milano said:

"You buy Twitter to destroy it for $40 billion. Imagine if he donated that money to UNICEF."
"He would change the world. There would be no hunger!"

Goldberg has previously announced her Twitter departure, stating:

“I’m getting off today because I just feel like it’s so messy and I’m tired of now having certain kinds of attitudes blocked now getting back on."
"So I’m gonna get out."

The talk show co-host implied she could change her mind down the road.

"If it settles down enough and I feel more comfortable maybe I’ll come back. But as of tonight, I’m done with Twitter.”
