While fans were surprised to see the odd pairing of the 'Succession' and '30 Rock' stars at the 2024 Emmy Awards, the two actors have actually been close friends for years.

Monday evening's Emmy Awards were loaded with memorable moments.

From host Anthony Anderson's mom heckling winners off the stage to Jennifer Coolidge thanking "all the evil gays" and Niecy Nash-Betts thanking herself, the night was absolutely bursting with them.

But perhaps the most adorable highlight of the evening was the spotting of the odd couple comprising Alexander Skarsgård and his date for the night, Jack McBrayer.

People on social media were surprised, albeit delighted, to see 30 Rock's Kenneth Parcell sitting amongst the cast of Succession providing companionship to Lukus Matsson.

As it turns out, the two have been close pals for quite some time.

And people on social media just could not get over this unlikely duo's friendship.

But those in the know provided evidence.

Though Skarsgård welcomed a child in 2022 with Tuva Novotny, with whom he's been linked for a few years now, folks online couldn't help but draw some other conclusions.

In actuality, the two have been accompanying each other to events for years, from dinners to vacations and even to NASCAR functions. In fact, in 2018 Skarsgård brought McBrayer to the SAG Awards, where he won for his performance in Big Little Lies.

Some claim the two became close friends at an event in 2012 when their conversation led them to discover they were neighbors in Los Angeles.

Whatever the case may be, we absolutely love this friendship, and we can't wait to see more appearances in the near future!
