Because of how we see Hollywood through the media's eyes, it's sometimes hard to picture celebrities as having the same issues as the rest of us.
So, when Adele revealed that she suffers from sciatica pain at her Los Vegas concert on New Year's Eve, her fans had an outpouring of support for her.
The beloved singer took a moment to address the crowd during her concert at Ceaser's Palace.
“I have to waddle these days as I have really bad sciatica.”
As opening night for her performance approached, Adele postponed it due to not feeling like herself. So when she announced to the crowd that she suffered from sciatic pain, fans responded with sympathy.
Fans took to Twitter to show their support.
“@accesshollywood @Adele if this report is true, I had this a few years ago and it was the worst pain I’ve been through. I hope you’ve found some relief. If you need any pointers, feel free to ask me any time. Hope this finds you well.”— Access Hollywood (@Access Hollywood) 1672793604
“@accesshollywood Sciatica is literally "A pain in the ass"! Down your leg, foot cramps, up your leg into the piri formis causing that excrutiating continuous pain, then the foot goes all numb & tingly & the hip starts to throb...yup, bummer.”— Access Hollywood (@Access Hollywood) 1672793604
“@accesshollywood I have the same thing. Miserable pain!”— Access Hollywood (@Access Hollywood) 1672793604

Other fans offered advice to the singer.
“@accesshollywood Some meds take those pains away right away, I think. I would get a pinched nerve in my back sometimes.”— Access Hollywood (@Access Hollywood) 1672793604

Ola Ojewumi, a disability lifestyle expert, tweeted about Adele's confession, commending her for her bravery.
“Adele coming out of the closet about her disability (sciatica) affecting her Las Vegas residency is significant. It shows we’re ushering in a new era where chronic conditions don’t always have to be hidden, nor does revealing it means the end of your career.”— Ola Ojewumi (@Ola Ojewumi) 1672806176
Ojewumi went on to say that it's not like the condition will force Adele to quit singing.
“Remember that Adele is still a rich, thin, attractive, famous, and privileged white woman.

She’s not the average disabled person who could lose job security, income, career, or housing by revealing a hidden disability. The rules apply differently to the rest of us.”— Ola Ojewumi (@Ola Ojewumi) 1672806176
Sciatica is a chronic condition that causes neuropathic pain through the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve passes through the lower back and down the legs. This can affect an individual’s ability to walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time, among other things.
At this point, Adele doesn't appear to have any plans to quit her signing career and continues to push through the pain in order to perform.
