Newsmax Reporter Dragged For Declaring Pride Month 'Defeated' After Proposing To Fiancée

Newsmax reporter Addison Smith shared photos on X after proposing to his now-fiancée Charis Edward, claiming that 'Pride Month is so defeated'—and the mockery was swift.

A reporter from the ultra-conservative Newsmax channel used the announcement of his engagement to his girlfriend as some sort of victory over Pride.

Members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies are currently celebrating the month-long commemoration of pride to spread messages of equality, representation, and normalized acceptance in protest against homophobia.

On Sunday, Addison Smith, a political correspondent for Newsmax, proposed to his now-fiancée Charis Edward and shared pictures on social media of him on bended knee and another of him holding her hand showing off the engagement ring.

Instead of focusing on his engagement news, Smith captioned the post with:

"Pride month is so defeated."

As if it were an afterthought, he followed up with a declaration of love to his fiancée.

Social media users were left scratching their heads over the bizarre victory lap and wanted answers.

Some speculated Smith's obsession with the gays was an indication of repressed homosexual desire.

Others set the record straight for his apparent confusion about Pride.

Last we checked, the rainbow banners and disco balls were still up. Various LGBTQ+ event celebrations with community members, family, and allies, have continued without disruption, indicating no defeat of Pride whatsoever.

So congrats on the engagement, Addison, but your constant crusading against homosexuals even amid your good news must be exhausting, amirite?
