With the awards season upon us, we're right in the thick of discussing who got nominated, who won an award and what's next for these artists, actors and directors.

Of course, there are always a few surprise wins and nomination snubs and this year has been no exception.

Usually when artists are snubbed for awards, they make grand proclamations like, "I didn't need their recognition anyway! I'm going to do something BIG."

But back in December, actor and comedian Adam Sandler surprised everyone during his interview with Howard Stern, when he promised he would make the next big flop of a movie if his drama, Uncut Gems, didn't receive the recognition he thinks it deserves.

Sandler said:

"If I don't get it, I'm going to f***ing come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay. That's how I get them."

Quite understandably, Uncut Gems placed Sandler in a dramatic role that is atypical for the comedic, somewhat slap-stick actor. Sandler portrayed a hustling jeweler with a serious sports gambling addiction.

The film is filled with tension and action sequences. Though it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, it was clearly a step in a new direction for Sandler.

Despite the favorable reviews of the movie, however, it looks like audiences and critics everywhere need to get ready for more Sandler cringe-worthy content, because Uncut Gems didn't receive a single nod from the Oscars.

Sandler gave a positive response after the Oscar nominations were posted, highlighting in particular his "Mama" from The Waterboy in 1998, Kathy Bates, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her part in Richard Jewell.

Multiple public figures came forward in response to Sandler's tweet, showing their support for him as an artist and for his work in Uncut Gems, including Sandler's great Mama herself.

Not to mention the water bucket loads of fans who voiced their support, as well.

It's unclear if Adam Sandler was serious about creating a serious flop of a movie after not receiving a nomination or award for Uncut Gems, but we'll be ready for some crazy content if he was.

Whether or not there's a deliberate flop on the horizon, one thing is for certain: Sandler isn't slowing down anytime soon.

His work may have not received an Oscar nod this time around, but support from his colleagues and fans is another measure of his success.

One of the films that did earn an Oscar nod is Parasite, available here.

Treasury Secretary Blasted Over Out-Of-Touch Remark About How Many Homes People Buy For Retirement

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had people raising their eyebrows after he made an out-of-touch remark at the World Economic Forum about the number of homes people purchase for their retirement, claiming at a time when Americans are struggling with a nationwide cost-of-living crisis that some are purchasing as many as "12 homes" for their golden years.

Bessent described the administration’s strategy to limit the role of large institutional buyers in the single-family housing market, while preserving protections for smaller, independent landlords, including those who rely on rental properties for retirement income.
