Since his abysmal Super Bowl performance in 2019, Adam Levine has been a bit of a running joke across the internet, and his recent stint on The Zane Lowe Show isn't doing his image any favors.

While promoting "Beautiful Mistakes," his new song with Megan Thee Stallion, Levine said he felt bands were being phased out of the music industry.

Talking about bands in the early 2000s, Levine lamented:

"I feel like there aren't any bands anymore, you know?....That's the thing that makes me kind of sad, is that there were just bands. There's no bands anymore, and I feel like they're a dying breed."

This comment backfired immediately, as Levine was roasted from every corner of Twitter.

Levine's band, Maroon 5, were at their peak popularity in 2014 with the song "Animals," but also had several number one hits across the mid-late 2000s such as "She Will Be Loved" and "Makes Me Wonder."

Meanwhile, 2020 was mostly ruled by K-Pop band BTS, a 7 member group who became the first band ever to hold 3 global number one hits on the official Billboard chart.

Later on in the interview, Levine backed off a bit:

"I mean, there still are plenty of bands and maybe they're not in the limelight quite as much, or in the pop limelight, but I wish there could be more of those around."

Though a simple look at the current Billboard Top 100 shows bands such as AJR and the Black-Eyed Peas ranking.

Does Adam Levine know he's in a band, too?
