On Monday, April 19, Democrat Walter Mondale, Vice President to Jimmy Carter, died at the age of 93.

The weekend before his passing, Mondale wrote a letter to his staff.

After the message was shared online, it went viral for its heartfelt caring.

Mondale, an especially caring figure on the political scene, will be missed in Washington D.C.

Mondale is often credited with bringing additional power and prestige to the office of the Vice President.

Many cynical Twitter users found themselves feeling a bit sentimental after reading Mondale's letter.

After writing he looked forward to seeing his late wife and daughter once more, Mondale wrote:

"Before I go, I wanted to let you know how much you mean to me."
"Never has a public servant had a better group of people working at their side!"
"Together we have accomplished so much, and I know you will keep up the good fight."

Rest in peace, Vice President Mondale, the impact you made will be remembered long after you've gone.
